- It is recommended to register for upcoming classes (classes starting next semester) rather than classes in progress (classes ongoing in the current semester) to ensure the best possible chance of earning credit for the course. Below are the requirements for receiving credit. For more information, see the articles Institute Graduation Requirements and CES Credit.
-
Students receive credit by attending 75 percent of the classes held, completing assigned readings (100 percent for scripture courses and 75 percent for all other courses), and completing the course elevate learning experiences.

FAQ:
Is the process for signing up for online institute classes similar?
You can find online classes in the same way and place as you can find in-person classes. After navigating to the Find an Institute page from the myInstitute Homepage, simply select the Online Institutes option towards the top of the screen. From there, the page will show you the Church area you belong to, and once you select your area and Find a Class you will be able to browse online classes that are available for your area.
What is Quick Sign Up?
Once you have selected the Register icon for an in-person class, you will see two options. One says Login & Register, and the other says Quick Sign Up. This is a great option for those who may not have a Church account, or who may not want to register fully in a class. Once you provide some key information (name, email, and birthdate) you will be signed up for the class, and it will appear on your Dashboard as if you registered. You can fully register at any time to gain access to all features for that course on myInstitute.
What if I don’t have a Church account?
You can sign up for a class without logging in through Quick Sign Up. See question above.
I’m having trouble signing in. What can I do?
If you ever have trouble signing in to your Church account, there are two prompts underneath the Username or Password entries. One of these says I forgot my username and password. By selecting this option and following its guide, you will be able to sign in by creating a new password, using your Membership Record Number (MRN), or through many other options. In the meantime, you can always use Quick Sign Up to start getting information for your class, and fully register after you have signed in to your account.
How can I find more information about a particular class?
The best place to find more information about a class is in your dashboard. Once there, select the title in its course module, and you will be able to read more about the course and its teacher. If you register for a class, then learn more and discover it is not what you are looking for or interested in, you can also select Drop Class on the same course module.
Why did the site show an error code telling me I couldn’t register, but still shows the course in my Dashboard?
There are certain possible error codes that can appear when you are registering for a course (ex. “you have a schedule conflict with this class and an existing enrollment” and “we were unable to enroll you in the class”). If you see these error codes after registering, check your dashboard. If the course appears in your dashboard, you are successfully enrolled, and do not need to do anything else. If the course is not in your dashboard, then the class may be full, or outside the enrollment deadline, or you may not have room in your schedule due to other courses. Register another day or find another course that will let you join.
