Skill: Set clear and positive classroom expectations.
DEFINE
Before starting class or introducing a new activity, it is important to set clear and positive expectations. You can do this by following these guidelines:
- Identify 3-5 positive behaviors that support student success in your classroom
- Write the behaviors using clear, positive, and student-friendly language
- Create and display a visual reminder of the expectations in your classroom
- Regularly teach, review, and reinforce the expectations with students.
Setting clear and positive expectations can help students be successful in class and develop positive interactions with you and their peers.
