Succeed in School classes are guided experiences that strengthen intermediate reading, writing, speaking, and mathematics skills for youth of the Church ages 11 to 18 who may need additional help with school. Students also gain study and life skills and learn how to prepare for important exams. Classes are designed to be safe places where students can ask questions, actively learn, and rely on their teacher and classmates to help them learn. They are also places where youth can build their faith in Jesus Christ and feel the Holy Ghost. Students realize the benefits of belonging to a learning community of Saints.
Succeed in School classes are a supplement to but not a replacement for school. While progress may be tracked, no credit is earned. The skills students learn help them with subjects they are studying in their local schools and prepare them for BYU-Pathway Worldwide. Classes are usually taught after school in local meetinghouses by called teachers (volunteers). They are held under the direction of stake leaders and are supported by Seminaries and Institutes employees. Local leaders select academic resources that meet the needs of their youth.*
